Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th, 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of life by using her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Before she learned to read or write, Dolly Parton was creating her own music. When she was eight, she bought her first electric guitar and began to sing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. That same year she made her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Although she was in school, she had already established herself on the local scene. But her dream was to to play on a greater level. After graduating the high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host at the time, was in search for a singer for his program. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed in 1969 with RCA Records. The year 1974 was the first that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's band because the popularity of her own solo records such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene was outstripping their joint efforts. Parton was a part of the group that split after the end of their collaboration with Wagoner was the one to write I Will Always Love You and saw it climb to the top spot at No. The first time in 1974.
